What is Inclusive Leadership? In this Webapero we will discuss this controversial matter with Bjørn Z. Ekelund, author of Unleashing the Power of Diversity. How to Open Minds for Good (2019) and coauthor of Inclusive Leadership: Equity and Belonging in our Communities(2023).
Due to the USA’s racial history, economic dominance, and a large volume of research, the American tradition has dominated the diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) field. Since the end of the 90-ies, Bjørn Z. Ekelund has been close to DEIB communities in the USA. In 2022 he was invited to be a co-editor of a book about “ Inclusive Leadership: Equity and Belonging in Our Communities.“. This is a book that was published in 2023 by the largest management association in the world; International Leadership Association. A leadership answer to the DEIB challenges is “inclusive leadership”.
What does that mean in practice? What is included in inclusive leadership? What is the prevailing narrative in the United States? What is missing from the American focus from a European perspective?
I will share reflections as an invitation to dialogues to these questions based on 40 of the suggested chapter proposals that were directly related to inclusive leadership. From a meta-perspective, I have identified 10 different approaches. I will share this analysis and invite participants in the webinar to further dialogues.
