We are pleased to invite you to our next webinar in collaboration SIETAR Polska and SIETAR France:

Blue Feet Monsoon—exploring the experience of growing up interculturally through fiction”

– Book Q&A Event with Cynthia Green, author and historian

This lecture, based on the novel Blue Feet Monsoon (2025) explores how people who grow up across cultures, countries and languages are profoundly affected by this experience. It highlights how intercultural competence can be present in unexpected places and how multiple cultural layers of experience and identity can exist in a single person during the course of their life. Looking through the lenses of multigenerational characters across diverse ethnic backgrounds will help attendees hone intercultural skills such as recognizing diverse perspectives, resisting divisive narratives, and finding the deeper levels where contemplation and conversation are needed.

Topics to be addressed:
– Intercultural Competence as a life skill
– What growing up cross-culturally brings to our deeper levels of identity and worldview
– How fiction can be used as a tool for inter-cultural exploration

For who?
For academics, trainers, and practitioners in intercultural communication and counseling, expatriate and TCK studies, and pluricultural community building. Q&A and dialogue will include how we define cross-cultural experience, how it can remain with us throughout life and how it might surface in  unexpected details of daily life both in and outside of the workplace.

Where to find?

Blue Feet Monsoon is available in print and ebook format from multiple vendors including Amazon, Waterstones, Bookshop.org, and Expatbookshop.org. Reading the book in anticipation of the dialogue is recommended.
