Pre-Conference Webinar on Intercultural Negotiation: Theory, Practice and Transformations in a Globalized World

Negotiation is not just about power dynamics or tactics—it is about creating an environment of psychological safety where all parties feel heard, valued, and motivated to collaborate. This webinar will explore how cultural perceptions of trust, hierarchy, and emotional expression impact negotiations and provide practical tools to navigate these challenges effectively.

Objectives:

○ Understanding Psychological Safety in Negotiations: Define psychological safety and its role in building trust, reducing Defensiveness, and encouraging open dialogue in international negotiations.

○ Explore how cultural differences influence perceptions of honesty, authority, and cooperation.

○ Creating a Win-Win Mindset: Shift from scarcity-driven, competitive negotiation to a mindset of abundance and collaborative problem-solving.

○ Recognizing the emotional and psychological barriers that prevent negotiators from reaching mutually beneficial agreements.

○ Managing Emotional Triggers & Conflict Resolution: Identify common emotional triggers in multicultural negotiations (e.g., perceived disrespect, miscommunication, or cultural faux pas).

○ Learn techniques to self-regulate emotions, manage cultural misunderstandings, and reframe conflicts in a productive way.

Florence Chabert d’Hieres, cross-cultural trainer & intercultural coach serves a range of six- year- olds to top corporate managers. An international adoptee, she authored  I’m a Citizen of the World, a book in French and English for expat families. She created the burger and the elephant metaphors to aid identity and global mindset development. As a Brain Gym Practitioner, she uses this tool to help people on the move reveal their potential. She is the founder Of Expat Village a one stop shop to help French expats abroad. Florence has 20 years of expat experience in 9 countries, training and living as a Mum of three third culture kids. Florence is a member of SIETAR France and is based in London.

Karina Lagarrigue is a psychologist, PhD candidate, and intercultural consultant specializing in the emotional and identity challenges of globally mobile individuals. With a background in counseling psychology, she supports expats, third culture kids, and cross-cultural couples in navigating transitions, grief, and belonging. Her research explores sensory processing sensitivity and its impact on adaptation and resilience. As the founder of Expat World Psychologist, Karina offers therapy and training that bridge neurodiversity, cultural complexity, and emotional safety. A lifelong expat and mother of two, she brings both personal insight and professional expertise to her work.
