The recent years have been marked by a rise in divisive and polarizing discourses and politics, alongside growing nationalist, anti-migration, and xenophobic sentiments across many societies.

Addressing these trends within the field of intercultural communication has never been more important. However, to contribute effectively, interculturalists must critically examine the strengths and weaknesses in their approaches to polarization and consider ways they might, even unintentionally, be reinforcing these divides.

This webinar will feature two thought-provoking presentations to serve as a foundation for exchange and discussion. It will critically explore how interculturalists can integrate practical strategies for fostering dialogue around nationalism and xenophobia in shifting political landscapes.

Amna Ben Amara is a researcher with the diversophy ® project, holding two master’s degrees: one in Intercultural Management from Slovenia and another in Cultural Studies from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of Sousse, Tunisia, her home country. She has published several journal articles and participated in numerous national and international conferences. Additionally, she has completed various training programs offered by Erasmus+ and DAAD. Most recently, she was a visiting researcher at the University of Paris-Est Créteil, France.
